We are always looking for help from the community.

Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)

Our Parent Teacher Organization is a group made up of parents and staff members.  The primary focus of the PTO is to establish a close relationship between home and school, increasing communication, so parents and staff may make intelligent decisions for the enhancement of educating children.

Another focus is to act as the eyes and ears of the community, bringing concerns and praise back to our school for review.  In addition, PTO strives to provide special programs, incentives, and activities through fundraising projects for the purpose of enhancing students' educational experiences.  The PTO meets approximately once a month at scheduled meetings listed on the school calendar.

School Advisory Council (SAC)

Our School Advisory Council is a committee comprised of administration, staff members, parents, and community members.  Often, members from PTO are represented on this committee.  The primary focus of SAC is to develop and implement the School Improvement Plan as required by the State Department of Education.  The School Improvement Plan is a document which highlights the areas for academic improvement.  Our curriculum focuses are based on achieving these improvement needs.  Our SAC also meets along with the PTO at scheduled meetings in addition to periodic School Improvement Plan meetings.

Volunteers

Volunteers are a valuable asset to our educational program.  We welcome parents, grandparents, neighbors, high school and college students, and any other interested people to join our volunteer program.

Volunteers are needed in the following areas: Classrooms, Media Center, Cafeteria, Popcorn Room, Skating Parties, Music, P.E., Fundraising Events, and Special Events throughout the school year.

Volunteer Orientation is held in early September.  Applications and further instructions are presented at this informative orientation.  However, new volunteers are always welcome.  If you join our Pelican family after the orientation, you may call or stop in the office to pick up a volunteer application.

It is a state statute that all volunteers produce a copy of their driver's license to the school office.  All volunteers must be screened against the FDOE sexual predator website.  Volunteers may not volunteer until they have provided a copy of their license.
